Acoustic Performance

Soundproofing Options

Sound privacy is the number one concern for glass conference rooms. We offer three performance tiers to match your acoustic requirements and budget.

STC 28-32

Single Tempered Glass (10-12mm)

Standard single-pane tempered glass provides basic sound attenuation suitable for visual separation and moderate noise reduction.

Ideal for: Casual meeting areas, collaboration spaces, huddle rooms

STC 35-40

Laminated Acoustic Glass

Laminated glass with an acoustic PVB interlayer absorbs sound vibrations more effectively than standard glass.

Ideal for: Standard conference rooms, manager offices, HR meeting spaces

STC 42-50

Double-Glazed Acoustic

Two glass panes separated by an air gap, with one or both panes using laminated acoustic glass.

Ideal for: Executive boardrooms, legal conference rooms, SCIF-adjacent spaces

Advantages

Why Glass Conference Rooms

Glass conference rooms transform the way teams meet, collaborate, and communicate. The benefits extend well beyond aesthetics.

Natural Light Distribution

Glass conference rooms allow daylight to penetrate deep into the office floor plate, reducing reliance on artificial lighting and creating a more energized, productive work environment for everyone -- not just meeting attendees.

Visual Connectivity

Transparent meeting spaces promote a culture of openness and accessibility. Team members can see when rooms are available, managers remain visible, and the office feels more collaborative and less siloed.

Acoustic Privacy

With laminated or double-glazed acoustic glass, conference rooms achieve STC ratings comparable to drywall -- ensuring that confidential conversations, client calls, and strategy sessions remain private.

AV Integration

Glass walls accommodate displays, cameras, speakers, and microphones through pass-through cable channels, frame-mounted brackets, and integrated power connections without compromising the glass seal.

On-Demand Privacy

Switchable PDLC glass provides instant visual privacy with the flip of a switch. Frosted bands at seated eye level offer a permanent, low-cost alternative for meeting rooms that need partial privacy.

LEED Contributions

Glass conference rooms contribute to LEED certification through daylight maximization (IEQ 8.1), improved outdoor views (IEQ 8.2), and low-VOC materials -- helping your building achieve sustainability goals.

Features

Privacy & AV Integration

From instant-on privacy glass to seamless display mounting, our conference rooms integrate the technology your meetings demand.

Switchable Privacy Glass

PDLC smart glass transitions from clear to frosted in under one second. Control via wall switch, remote, room scheduler, or building automation system. Also serves as a rear-projection screen when opaque.

Frosted Glass Bands

Permanent frosted strips applied at seated eye level (40-60 inches) provide visual privacy for meeting participants while maintaining light flow above and below the frosted zone.

Blinds Between Glass

Venetian blinds sealed between two glass panes stay dust-free and operate via magnetic control. Tilt open for transparency, close for full privacy -- no external blinds to maintain or replace.

Display Mounting

Flat-panel displays mount directly to aluminum framing members or to dedicated steel backing plates behind glass panels. Cable management runs through frame channels to floor or ceiling connections.

Writable Glass Surfaces

Special coating converts glass panels into dry-erase whiteboard surfaces. Write directly on the conference room wall with standard dry-erase markers. Available in clear or white-backed finishes.

Magnetic Glass Boards

Tempered glass panels with a magnetic backing layer serve as both a design element and a functional magnetic board. Pin documents, diagrams, and notes directly to the glass conference room wall.

How We Work

Our Conference Room Process

From initial site survey to final acoustic testing, every step is engineered for precision and minimal disruption to your business operations.

Office Survey

We measure your space, assess ceiling and floor conditions, map electrical and HVAC runs, and discuss acoustic requirements, privacy needs, AV.

02

Design & Specification

We design the glass wall layout with panel sizes, door location, glass type, frame finish, and STC target.

03

Fabrication

Glass panels are cut, tempered, laminated (if acoustic), and edge-finished to specification.

04

Installation

We install ceiling tracks, floor channels, glass panels, doors, and hardware. AV pass-throughs and power connections are completed.

Common Questions

Glass Conference Room FAQ

How soundproof are glass conference rooms?
Glass conference rooms achieve STC ratings between 35 and 50 depending on the glass type and sealing system. Standard single-pane tempered glass provides STC 28-32. Laminated acoustic glass achieves STC 35-40. Double-glazed configurations with acoustic interlayers reach STC 42-50, which is comparable to drywall construction. The sealing system is critical -- even the best glass underperforms if the floor, ceiling, and panel joints are not properly sealed.
What is switchable privacy glass?
Switchable privacy glass (also called smart glass or PDLC glass) contains a liquid crystal film that changes from transparent to opaque when an electric current is applied. With the flip of a switch, the glass transitions from fully clear to a frosted white appearance, providing instant visual privacy for confidential meetings. The transition takes less than one second and can be controlled by wall switches, remotes, room scheduling systems, or building automation platforms.
Can glass conference rooms accommodate AV equipment?
Yes. Glass conference rooms are designed to integrate displays, projectors, cameras, speakers, and microphones. We install pass-through cable channels in the glass wall framing, mount TV brackets directly to framing members, and integrate power and data connections without compromising the glass wall seal or acoustic performance. We coordinate with your IT team to ensure all connection points are in the right locations.
How long does installation take?
A standard glass conference room (10x12 feet) is typically installed in 1-2 days. Larger rooms, rooms with switchable glass, or rooms requiring extensive AV integration may take 3-5 days. We schedule installations around your office hours and can work evenings or weekends to minimize disruption. Fabrication lead time is 2-4 weeks before installation begins.
Do glass conference rooms meet fire code?
Standard glass conference room walls are not fire-rated. If your space requires fire-rated separation, we install fire-rated glass systems using ceramic or intumescent glass in fire-rated frames that provide 20, 45, 60, or 90-minute fire ratings while maintaining full transparency. We review local code requirements during the design phase and specify compliant systems when needed.
Can existing drywall conference rooms be converted to glass?
Yes. We regularly convert drywall conference rooms to glass. The process involves removing the existing walls, installing glass wall track systems in the existing floor and ceiling, and setting glass panels. In most cases, no structural modification is needed because glass walls weigh less than drywall partition walls. Electrical and data lines are rerouted through the new framing system.
What frame finishes are available?
Aluminum frames are available in anodized silver, matte black, brushed nickel, polished chrome, bronze, and custom powder-coat colors. We also offer wood-grain laminate finishes that mimic walnut, oak, and other hardwoods. Frameless systems use minimal visible hardware for a completely transparent appearance. Your frame choice affects both aesthetics and acoustic performance.
Are glass conference rooms LEED-compliant?
Glass conference rooms contribute to LEED certification by maximizing daylight penetration (IEQ Credit 8.1), improving views to the outdoors (IEQ Credit 8.2), and using low-VOC sealants and adhesives (IEQ Credit 4). We provide full material documentation for LEED submissions upon request and can specify materials that maximize your point potential.
