Decorative Options

Glass Styles for Every Home

Decorative glass adds personality, privacy, and curb appeal to your entry. Every option below is available for doors, sidelights, and transoms.

Leaded Glass

Traditional lead came strips create geometric or flowing patterns between individual glass pieces.

Beveled Glass

Glass edges are cut at an angle, creating prism-like facets that refract light into rainbow patterns.

Etched Glass

Sandblasted or acid-etched patterns create frosted designs on clear glass. Provides privacy while allowing diffused light.

Textured Glass

Glass with surface textures like rain, reed, glue chip, or flemish. Each texture obscures the view differently while transmitting light, offering various.

Stained Glass

Colored glass pieces assembled with lead came or copper foil. Stained glass entry panels are true art pieces that add color and personality to your front.

Low-E Insulated Glass

Double or triple pane glass units with Low-E coatings and argon or krypton gas fill. Maximizes energy efficiency while maintaining clarity.

Performance

Security and Energy Efficiency

Security Glass Options

Modern glass entry doors are far more secure than most homeowners realize. We install multiple security glass options depending on your needs and budget.

  • Tempered glass -- 4x stronger than standard, shatters into safe pebbles
  • Laminated glass -- holds together when broken, prevents reach-through
  • Impact-resistant glass -- meets hurricane-zone building codes
  • Wired glass -- embedded wire mesh provides fire resistance
  • Security film -- retrofit option for existing glass doors

Energy-Efficient Glass

Entry doors are a significant source of energy loss. Our glass options minimize thermal transfer while maximizing natural light.

  • Low-E coatings reflect heat while transmitting visible light
  • Double-pane insulated glass units with argon gas fill
  • Triple-pane options for maximum thermal performance
  • Warm-edge spacers reduce condensation and edge heat loss
  • Energy Star rated configurations available

Common Questions

Glass Entry Door FAQ

Are glass entry doors secure?
Yes. Modern glass entry doors use tempered or laminated safety glass that is extremely difficult to break through. Laminated glass holds together even when shattered, providing a barrier against forced entry. We also install impact-resistant glass options that meet hurricane-zone building codes.
What decorative glass options are available for entry doors?
We offer leaded glass, beveled glass, etched and sandblasted glass, stained glass, textured glass, and art glass for entry doors. These options provide privacy while allowing natural light and can be customized to complement any architectural style from colonial to contemporary.
Can you replace just the glass in my existing front door?
In most cases, yes. If the door frame and panel are in good condition, we can replace the glass insert without replacing the entire door. This applies to full glass panels, half-light inserts, sidelights, and transom glass. Glass-only replacement is significantly more cost-effective than full door replacement.
Are glass entry doors energy efficient?
Modern glass entry doors with Low-E coatings and insulated glass units (double or triple pane) are highly energy efficient. Low-E glass reflects heat while transmitting visible light, and the insulating air or gas gap between panes dramatically reduces thermal transfer. Energy Star rated glass door options are available.
How long does a glass entry door installation take?
A standard glass entry door installation takes 4 to 8 hours depending on complexity. This includes removal of the old door, preparation of the opening, installation, shimming, hardware mounting, weathersealing, and final adjustment. Sidelight and transom installations may take a full day.
