Our Comprehensive Workmanship Warranty covers any defect in our installation work for as long as you own the property. This includes seal failures caused by improper installation, hardware that loosens due to incorrect mounting, glass that shifts or becomes misaligned, and any other issue that results from how we performed the work. It does not cover the glass product itself (that is covered by the manufacturer warranty), accidental damage, normal wear and tear, or damage from remodeling or alterations by others.
Our workmanship warranty is comprehensive -- it lasts for as long as you own the property with no expiration date. Manufacturer product warranties vary: most residential insulated glass units (IGUs) carry 10-20 year warranties against seal failure, tempered glass is typically warranted for 10 years against spontaneous breakage, shower door hardware warranties range from 5 years to limited lifetime depending on the brand, and Low-E coatings are warranted for 10-25 years. We provide all manufacturer warranty documentation at the time of installation.
Yes. Our Comprehensive Workmanship Warranty transfers to the new property owner at no cost. We simply need to be notified of the ownership change. This is a genuine selling point when listing your home -- potential buyers value knowing the glass work is permanently guaranteed. The new owner receives the same coverage as the original customer for the remaining life of the warranty.
The warranty is voided if glass or hardware is modified, repaired, or tampered with by anyone other than Expert Glass Repair; if damage results from impacts, accidents, vandalism, or misuse; if damage is caused by natural disasters, severe storms, or acts of God; if the glass product was not purchased through us; or if structural alterations to the building affect the installation. Normal wear and tear on moving parts (such as weatherstripping degradation) is not covered, though installation defects on those same parts are covered.

Yes. Our Comprehensive Workmanship Warranty covers all labor associated with correcting an installation defect at absolutely no cost to you. If we need to remove and reinstall glass, replace hardware we mounted incorrectly, or reseal a joint that failed due to our installation technique, the labor is fully covered. You will never receive a bill for warranty-related labor -- this includes the inspection visit, the repair visit, and any follow-up adjustments.
Our workmanship warranty is the same across all glass types -- comprehensive coverage on every installation we perform. However, manufacturer product warranties do vary by glass type. Insulated glass units carry 10-20 year seal failure warranties, tempered glass has a 10-year warranty against spontaneous breakage from nickel sulfide inclusions, laminated glass is warranted for 10 years, and specialty coatings like Low-E carry 10-25 year warranties. We document the specific manufacturer warranty for each product at the time of installation.
Fogging between panes of an insulated glass unit (IGU) indicates a seal failure. If the seal failure resulted from our installation work, our workmanship warranty covers complete replacement at no cost. If the seal failure is a product defect (which is more common in older units), we file a manufacturer warranty claim on your behalf and handle the replacement. Either way, you get the fogged unit replaced -- the only question is whether our warranty or the manufacturer warranty covers it, and we determine that during the inspection.
