Why Patterned Glass
Patterned glass combines the practical benefits of privacy with the aesthetic power of custom design. Here is why DMV homeowners love it.
Choose your exact privacy level from barely-there texture to fully obscured. Patterns let you fine-tune visibility to match your comfort and bathroom layout.
Move beyond plain clear glass with a pattern that expresses your personal style.
All patterned glass is tempered to the same safety standards as clear glass. Patterns are applied before or during tempering, so you never sacrifice.
Textured and frosted surfaces disguise water spots, fingerprints, and soap residue far better than clear glass.
Even the most obscure patterns still transmit natural and artificial light beautifully.
We offer sandblasting, acid-etching, ceramic frit printing, digital printing, and vinyl overlay.
Pattern Catalog
We offer a wide range of glass patterns and textures. Each has distinct visual characteristics, privacy levels, and production methods.
Vertical streaks that mimic raindrops running down a windowpane. The most popular patterned glass for shower doors, offering moderate privacy while maintaining a bright, airy feel.
Vertical ribbed texture with evenly spaced ridges. Creates a strong architectural statement with good privacy. Very popular in modern and Art Deco bathroom designs.
Uniform matte finish across the entire surface. Creates maximum privacy with a soft, diffused light quality. Available in full-panel frosted or as a privacy band at eye level.
Chemical etching creates subtle, elegant patterns with a satin smooth finish. Ideal for custom geometric patterns, borders, and artistic designs. No rough texture to trap dirt.
High-pressure sand carving creates deep, textured designs with dramatic visual depth. Perfect for nature scenes, custom logos, monograms, and artistic patterns with a handcrafted feel.
Ceramic ink is screen-printed and then fused into the glass during tempering. Creates precise dot patterns, gradients, and complex imagery. Used in high-end architectural glass worldwide.
Comparison
Different patterning methods offer different trade-offs in design flexibility, durability, and cost. Here is how they stack up.
Privacy Guide
One of the main reasons homeowners choose patterned glass is privacy. Here is how different patterns rank from low to full privacy.
Full visibility -- no privacy. Best for enclosed bathrooms with a separate door.
Moderate obscurity. Silhouettes visible but details are blurred. Bright, airy feel.
Moderate to high. Vertical ridges break up the view significantly while transmitting excellent light.
Eye-level privacy band with clear glass above and below. Strategic placement for maximum effect.
High privacy in treated areas. Degree varies by coverage -- full panel or partial design.
Near-complete privacy. Only vague shadows visible. Soft, diffused light quality.
Placement
You do not have to pattern the entire panel. Strategic placement lets you balance privacy, light, and design exactly as you want.
The entire glass panel is patterned or frosted. Maximum privacy and a consistent, cohesive look. Ideal for shared bathrooms or when the shower is visible from a hallway.
A patterned band at approximately 4 to 6 feet from the floor. Clear glass above (light) and below (shows tile work). The most popular option for master bathrooms.
The lower third of the panel is frosted or patterned. Provides privacy for the body while keeping the upper portion clear for maximum light and an open feel.
Our Process
From initial consultation to finished installation, here is how we bring your custom pattern vision to life.
We visit your home, discuss pattern preferences, show physical glass samples, and take precise measurements. You see and feel every option before deciding.
For custom patterns (logos, art, unique designs), we create a digital mockup overlaid on your shower dimensions.
Your glass is patterned using the selected method (sandblasting, etching, frit, etc.), then tempered for safety.
Our certified installers mount hardware, hang the patterned glass, adjust alignment, apply seals, and test door operation. Complete cleanup included.
Custom Art & Logos
Beyond standard patterns, we can sandblast, etch, or print virtually any design into your shower glass. Here is what homeowners commonly request.
A single letter or intertwined initials sandblasted into the glass. Popular for master bathrooms in custom-built homes. Typically placed at center or upper-center of the panel.
Trees, bamboo stalks, leaves, birds, ocean waves, and mountain silhouettes. Sandblasting creates multiple depth levels for a dimensional, handcrafted look.
Art Deco fans, hexagonal grids, chevron patterns, and abstract linear compositions. These work beautifully with contemporary and transitional bathroom designs.
For luxury hotel suites, spa facilities, and high-end commercial projects. We reproduce your logo faithfully using ceramic frit or digital printing for precise color matching.
Detailed sandblasted or etched reproductions of family crests and coats of arms. Multi-stage sandblasting creates light-to-deep tonal variation for stunning detail.
Flowing organic shapes, splatter patterns, gradient fades, and contemporary abstract compositions. Digital printing allows unlimited color options for truly artistic glass.
Care & Longevity
Different patterning methods have different maintenance needs. Here is what to expect for long-term care of your patterned shower glass.
These patterns are formed during glass manufacturing and are part of the glass itself. They cannot wear off, fade, or be damaged by cleaning products. Clean with any standard glass cleaner and a soft cloth. The textured surface actually hides water spots better than smooth glass.
Sandblasted patterns are physically carved into the glass surface and are completely permanent. The frosted areas may show fingerprints more readily than smooth glass. Clean with a non-abrasive glass cleaner and avoid harsh scrubbing pads that could polish the frosted surface.
Acid etching creates a satin-smooth frosted finish that resists fingerprints better than sandblasting. The pattern is permanent and will not wear off. Clean with standard glass cleaner. The smooth etched surface is actually easier to maintain than textured rolled glass.
Ceramic frit patterns are fused into the glass during tempering, making them as permanent as the glass itself. Digital prints use UV-resistant inks bonded to the glass surface. Both can be cleaned with standard glass cleaner without risk of damage. Avoid abrasive pads.
