The Expert Glass Advantage

Why Industrial Facilities Choose Expert Glass

Warehouses and industrial operations across the DMV trust us because we understand fire codes, impact requirements, security needs, and the operational constraints of industrial environments.

Industrial Facility Experience

We have installed glass in warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing plants, and industrial facilities across the DMV.

Fire Code Expertise

Fire-rated glass is one of the most misunderstood building code requirements. We know exactly where fire-rated glass is required, what ratings are needed,

Minimal Production Impact

We schedule industrial glass work during off-shift hours, weekends, and planned shutdowns. For emergency replacements, we provide same-day board-up and rapid permanent glass installation to keep your operations running.

Safety Protocol Compliance

Industrial glass work requires strict safety protocols. Our crews follow OSHA requirements, wear appropriate PPE, coordinate with your safety manager, and comply with lockout/tagout and confined space procedures as required.

Our Process

Industrial Glass, Production-Safe Installation

Every step is coordinated with your operations team to minimize downtime and maintain safety protocols.

01
1

Facility Survey

We tour your industrial facility with your plant or facilities manager to assess every glass need -- fire-rated glass compliance, damaged windows, security vulnerabilities, loading dock glass, and office partitions.

02
2

Code and Spec Review

We verify fire rating requirements, impact specifications, and security needs against current building codes. For wire glass replacement, we specify modern alternatives that meet code while improving safety and visibility.

03
3

Off-Shift Installation

Our crew works during off-shift hours to minimize production disruption. We follow all facility safety protocols, coordinate with your safety team, and secure work areas to prevent any hazard to workers or operations.

04
4

Code Compliance Verification

We verify fire ratings, impact resistance, and security specifications for every installation. You receive fire-rated glass certifications, safety glazing documentation, and compliance records for your building file.

In-Depth

Industrial Glass -- Built for the Toughest Environments

Warehouses and industrial facilities subject glass to conditions that would destroy residential or standard commercial products. Forklifts pass inches from loading dock windows. Overhead door glass endures thousands of opening cycles and vibration from dock operations. Security windows must resist break-in attempts while maintaining the natural light that improves worker safety and morale. Fire-rated glass must contain flames and smoke during a building fire while meeting the latest safety glazing standards.

One of the most common industrial glass issues we address is wire glass replacement. For decades, wire glass -- glass with an embedded wire mesh -- was the standard fire-rated glazing product. But wire glass has a critical flaw: it is actually weaker than standard glass (the wire creates stress points) and it creates dangerous sharp wire edges when broken, meaning it fails modern safety glazing requirements. Modern alternatives like ceramic fire-rated glass and intumescent glass systems provide equal or better fire protection while being significantly stronger and meeting CPSC safety standards. We recommend replacing wire glass whenever we service fire-rated doors and walls.

We serve warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing plants, food processing facilities, data centers, cold storage facilities, and industrial parks across DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland. Whether you need a single loading dock window replaced or a complete fire-rated glass upgrade across your facility, we bring the industrial expertise and off-shift scheduling that keeps your operations running.

Industrial FAQ

Warehouse & Industrial Glass Questions

Answers for facility managers, plant managers, and operations directors across the DMV.

Can you replace wire glass with modern fire-rated glass?
Yes. Traditional wire glass has been the standard fire-rated glazing for decades, but it is being replaced industry-wide with modern alternatives. Wire glass actually fails current safety glazing requirements because the embedded wire creates sharp edges when broken. Modern fire-rated glass products -- ceramic glass like Pyran and intumescent glass like SuperLite -- provide equal or better fire protection, are significantly stronger, provide clearer visibility, and meet current CPSC 16 CFR 1201 safety glazing standards. We recommend replacement whenever wire glass is being serviced.
What fire rating does my building require?
Fire ratings depend on the specific application and your building code jurisdiction. Fire doors typically require 20-minute or 45-minute rated glass. Fire barrier walls may require 60 or 90-minute ratings. Stairwell enclosures and exit corridor walls have specific requirements based on building height and use. We verify the exact rating required with your local building code and fire marshal before specifying any fire-rated glass, ensuring your installation passes inspection.
Do you install glass in loading dock doors?
Yes. We install and replace glass panels in loading dock overhead sectional doors, man doors adjacent to dock openings, and pass-through windows between dock and warehouse. Loading dock glass endures the hardest conditions in any building -- impact from forklifts, pallets, hand trucks, and heavy equipment. We use tempered safety glass rated for these impacts, and we can add protective guards and bollards in front of glass panels in the highest-risk locations.
Can security glass prevent warehouse break-ins?
Security glass significantly increases the difficulty and time required to break through a window, which deters most break-in attempts. Laminated security glass uses multiple glass layers bonded with a tough interlayer that holds the glass together even when smashed, requiring sustained effort to penetrate. For the highest security, polycarbonate glazing is virtually unbreakable. We also integrate security glass with alarm sensors and security camera sightlines for comprehensive protection.
Do you work around production and shipping schedules?
Yes. We schedule industrial glass work around your production, shipping, and receiving operations. Loading dock glass is typically replaced during evening or weekend shifts when dock activity is lowest. Production floor glass is coordinated with planned downtime or off-shift windows. For emergency replacements, we provide same-day temporary board-up and prioritize permanent glass installation to minimize operational impact.
Can you replace windows at heights of 30 feet or more?
Yes. Warehouses and industrial buildings commonly have windows at 20, 30, 40 feet or higher -- clerestory windows, monitor roof glazing, and high-wall windows that provide natural light to the production or warehouse floor. We have boom lifts and aerial equipment capable of reaching these heights safely. We also replace skylight glass, roof glazing panels, and translucent wall panels at any height your building requires.
